Have you ever played Dark Room?

The game where we turned the lights off and did something-something

I usually never paid attention after they said "turn off the lights"

For some reason, the absence of photon made me uneasy

Darkness or Nyx were adjectives for places

Grim, hollow, somber, or just gloomy places

Places that were only visited by suspicious people

Only those who were labeled 'bad' by our parents

I was too scared of darkness

Being alone in the darkness

Or not being alone

I never enjoyed that game. Ever.

Almost 11 years later,

I walked into my drawing-room at 3 AM

Amidst the darkness, I could see the moonlight through the skylight

And I wasn't uneasy this time

I felt,

Alive

And Free

As if all that absence of photons told the atoms of my body

To just be free

We are taught in science that our body is just energy concentrated in one place

The darkness of that room made that energy excited

Light is necessary for keeping us together

Light lets us function properly, Light makes us assume rationality

But now I understand

Darkness is meant to set a person free

It is in darkness the soul can take truly over the body and it is in this darkness

That the best of the creative minds come alive

Nyx isn't grim or hollow or somber or gloomy

Nyx is creative. Nyx is full of emptiness.

Nyx is independent and Free.

Sometimes I feel darkness is my friend

Sometimes I feel the Nyx is me.
