Funny, how destiny works.
In a moment, you’re sitting there writing an exam
Concentrating on the definite integration question
And at the same moment, your hand goes under your desk
And there you find a notebook, covered in brown paper
Neat brown paper
You look around, look at the invigilator who’s busy in his phone
And open the notebook to find her name inscribed on the first page
In beautiful handwriting “Amishta Trivedi.”
And the first thought that runs through your mind is a question
Should I solve the integral?
You choose otherwise and go on to flip the pages
And there on all the pages is the same handwriting
Poetry, Logs, Stories, Thoughts
Anything that she thought, she scribbled it down there
As if it was a part of her soul that she wanted to transfer in those pages
And you start reading that stuff, written so profoundly.
With each word, you fall for her even more
You forget that you are actually in the middle of an examination
And as you reach the end, you realize that you are in love
With a person, you’ve never met
Yet it feels as if you know everything about her
I don’t know how destiny works, but for this, I am grateful for destiny
I didn’t know how to look for her
Hence, I went for the only way I could think of
I wrote, in her notebook, feelings that I felt in that hall
And I wrote down everything I could about her in that notebook
Confessing how I felt about her
Hoping someday I would get a reply
I would run into her, and we’ll talk about the notebook
But destiny had other plans.
In the next exam, I sat on the exact same bench in that foreign place
And I think it was the prayers because I found the notebook there again
Covered, with neat brown paper
This time there was a name-slip attached on the front page
And in the same mesmerizing handwriting the name “Amishta Trivedi” was scribbled on it.
I couldn’t care less about the exam
I sat down and quickly turned the pages of the notebook
To find her reply
And after some messy pages, I found one page, with one sentence on it
“I Think I’ve Fallen For You Too!”
Better words have not been written.
And thus, started our conversations
In the pages of that notebook,
A love story was born.
Exams didn’t feel much of a threat now
I looked forward to them
And now I knew that she wasn’t like the rest of the people
And we shared a lot of quirks
She is a movie buff too; She likes to listen to songs while studying as well;
She’s good at coding too;
She’s also an ambivert who spends most of her time with her PC.
It was like we were made for each other
But that final day approached, last mock test.
And we haven’t shared any of the personal information except our names
And in that final exam, the notebook wasn’t there
Solving that paper was the toughest thing to do at that time
But destiny had something for me
As I completed the test and walked to the door, I saw the notebook
Only this time, it was in her hands
And I don’t know where it came from,
But I just hugged her, and she looked exactly as I imagined her to be
And it was that moment when I realized,
Destiny is a beautiful thing
From the Slumdog becoming a Millionaire
To This hopeless introverted romantic meeting the girl he never thought he would meet
Destiny has its way of doing things,
And in my case,
It was a NOTEBOOK that came to my aid.
i think this is the most beautiful ive ever readdd 😭
